Session Details

Why should life have to imitate art when the best art is life? That's why I follow real people in the real world to capture their true colors rather than working out of a studio. Nothing excites me more than working with a couple just being who they are, without me having to "stage the event", or capturing the moment of a baby feeling the grass between her tiny toes for the very first time. It's about genuine pictures of genuine people living, loving and falling in love. I see our world through a lens, and even on those rare occasions when I leave my camera at home, I am still shooting the world in my mind, imagining the lighting, composition, and possibilities.

Weddings

The biggest moments of our lives are made up of hundreds of little moments. Some of the most beautiful and emotional photos can be captured as the bride is getting ready with her bridesmaids and mother. Some brides also choose to have the preparation of their hair and make-up photographed as well. If the groom is getting ready in the same location, often times some photos will be captured with him and his groomsmen. Other important pre-ceremony photos include the bride's father seeing her for the first time in her dress and the bride and groom exchanging gifts through their attendants. After the ceremony is usually when the formal portrait session occurs and then highlights at the reception include first dance, toasts, cake cutting, and bouquet and garter toss. I'm sure to take special notice of all the small details, whether it's that little look your groom gives you when you reach the altar, the handkerchief tucked in your garter that was your great grandfather's, or the smallest accent on your cake. From the preparation to the celebration, I capture your wedding story as it unfolds. I include an engagement session in all of my wedding packages. It's very important to me for you to be comfortable working with me on your big day.

Portrait Location and Scheduling

What do you want to capture most about your child or family? Portrait sessions can be done at an outdoor location or in your home. If you're unsure of a place, I always have a few in mind. Most sessions are conducted in the morning or late afternoon when the light isn't too harsh. There's no time limit but most sessions last 1-2 hours. We can talk specifics about clothing, but as a general rule you will want to avoid clothing with loud or busy patterns or big logos. Newborn sessions can last up to 3 hours. For newborns, most parents prefer to do their portraits at home. The best time for newborn photos is within the first 5-10 days of birth. Maternity photos are best done between 32 and 36 weeks. I do have a portable backdrop I can bring to your home. Some people prefer it for the more delicate shots, or just want to add a little bit of variety to their session. You know your family best, so let's talk about what you want and we'll make it happen, together!
